If you are a recipient of a pension from Social Insurance and you live outside of Slovakia, do not forget an important obligation. By the end of January, you must deliver the so-called proof of living. Failure to do so may result in your pension being suspended. Which countries are affected and how to proceed? Who must deliver proof of residence?

Pensioners living outside the Slovak Republic are required to deliver proof of residence. The date and frequency of delivery depends on the country of residence:

  • EU/EEA countries and Switzerland: Once a year until January 31.
  • Countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland: Four times a year, the first deadline was January 15.

Exception: Pensioners living in the Czech Republic do not have to submit a certificate. Sociálna poisťovňa and the Czech Social Security Administration exchange this data electronically.

Why is proof of life important?

This form serves to verify whether the pension recipient is still alive. The Social Insurance Company, based on the delivery of this document, ensures the uninterrupted payment of the pension benefit. If you do not deliver the confirmation in time, the payment of the pension may be suspended.

How to deliver the confirmation?

The Social Insurance Agency recommends using the form that was sent to you together with the decision on pension valorization. The form contains a barcode, which speeds up its processing.

If you do not have the form, you can download it from the website of the Social Insurance Company. Deliver the completed form with an officially certified signature to:

  • 15 January 2025: Beneficiaries living outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
  • 31 January 2025: Beneficiaries living in EU/EEA countries and Switzerland.
