PSD 'clears the house' for the municipal elections and guarantees that 90% of the names are chosen

The current Government party has already approved several candidates for the next municipal elections, which should take place between September and October this year.

O but the biggest cameras remain unnamed. The social democratic party guarantees that everything is under control and that there will be no coalitions with Chega.

There was an expectation that the National Council would provide more news about the municipal race, but almost everything is the same. The PSD continues to mark its pace and with most large city halls without an associated name. But the party’s municipal coordinator guarantees that everything is under control.

Among the 43 candidates already formalized are names such as Ricardo Araújo in Guimarães, Nuno Piteira Lopes in Cascais or Nelson Batista in Loures.

Porto is a problem

In Porto there is a problem. Pedro Duarte is Montenegro’s ‘Plan A’ but the candidacy of Rui Moreira’s independent movement, now headed by Filipe Araújo, could disrupt the party’s accounts.

At this Tuesday’s meeting, a question was also raised, precisely by the president of the District of Faro, the district where Chega won the last Legislatures.

Cristóvão Norte is against alliances with Chega but according to what SIC found, he wanted it to be black and white that Montenegro’s ‘no is no’ is really to be maintained.

The secretary general left no room for doubt: there are no agreements with Chega in the local authorities.
