Abel Ferreira criticized the player for giving up on signing with Palmeiras in the last moments
Claudinho’s negotiations with Palmeiras have been giving people something to talk about, and culminated in a “nip” from the Alviverde club’s own coach. After the end of negotiations last Tuesday (21), Abel Ferreira stated that the team wants “players of character”, insinuating that Claudinho would not be the choice for that. >
The club and the midfielder had been talking, but the player ended up signing a deal with Al-Sadd, from Qatar. Upset by the change, Abel sent hints in the interview after beating Santos 2-1. “I’m counting on the players I have. Whoever it is against, they play to win. I know about our president’s efforts with Barros. Sometimes this situation happens, which the president did well to expose”, he commented. >
“We want players of character, of their word, who really want to come to Palmeiras. Those who don’t want to, we won’t insist too much. We have those who are with us”, he added. Abel reaffirmed the story told by president Leila Pereira, that the documents for the signing were already underway when the club learned of the change of direction of the player and his agent, Fernando Garcia.>
“Everything is very clear. We want players who want to come. The saddest part of this is that this is not the first time this has happened. We want men of character, who are willing to come. Our president was very clear, and you are not used to this clarity. Those who don’t want to come, we wish them all the luck in the world, except against Palmeiras”, he commented.>
Verdão would also be targeting Andreas Pereira and Matheus Pereira for midfield. >
