Traffic researcher Laa: “The car-friendly city is no longer up to date”

For many people, a car-free Vienna probably sounds like a horror scenario. How should heavy items be transported, where emergency vehicles will travel, and how grocery stores will be delivered? Transport expert Barbara Laa researches the mobility of the future at the Vienna University of Technology and therefore deals with all of these and many more questions. For them it is clear that we have to move away from the “car-friendly city” and towards the so-called environmental network and thus a mixture of walking, cycling and public transport.
