United States President Donald Trump has threatened to withhold federal aid to fight wildfires in Los Angeles if California officials do not change their approach to water management.
In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, 22, Trump repeated false claims that fish conservation efforts in Northern California are responsible for fire hydrants being out of water in urban areas.
The president said the blame for Los Angeles’ difficulties in controlling the fires lies with Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, a political opponent. “I don’t think we should give California anything until they let the water run,” Trump said.
The American president will visit areas in the south of the state affected by the fire on Friday, the 23rd.
In the interview, Trump also called for the reform of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which was “getting in the way of everything”, according to him. “I prefer to see states taking care of their own problems,” he said.

Trump even hinted that he would like to see investigations into former President Joe Biden. The Republican is the first president to have been convicted of a crime – in a case related to the payment of bribes -, and he also faced criminal charges for trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election. “It’s really difficult to say that they shouldn’t also pass That’s why,” he said, in reference to Biden.
