Who has never come across an unexpected price in a parking lot? However, a French couple’s parking experience took this situation to a completely different level. The case, which took place in Ollioules, in the Var region of France, quickly went viral due to the astronomical amount they were charged for just two hours of parking.
An unbelievable account
It all started routinely, with the couple parking the car for a cardiology appointment at the local hospital, run by the Elsan hospital group. What they expected to be an expense of three or four reais turned into a real shock: when they went to the payment machine, the bill presented was R$17,571.50.
“We were shocked,” the two confessed to the French press, cited by , describing their perplexity when they saw the value on the machine’s display. Used to parking in the same place, they never imagined facing a situation like this.
A technical failure with a happy ending
Faced with the absurdity of the situation, the couple immediately appealed to the park’s SAC. After analyzing the case, the Elsan group confirmed that it was a technical failure in the payment machine. Fortunately, the situation was quickly resolved, and the couple was not forced to pay the amount. Parking ended up being free, but it was certainly scary.
A story that warns of the unexpected
Cases like this serve as a reminder of the eventualities that can arise in everyday situations. Although technical failures are relatively rare, this story highlights the importance of payment systems being monitored and adjusted to avoid similar situations.
In the meantime, the French couple can at least breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the parking bill was nothing more than a scare.
