Classic Physique promises to be one of the categories with the most electrifying battle at the Olympia in 2025. This is because none of the three bodybuilders who have already won the title in history – Danny Hester, Breon Ansley and Chris Bumstead – will be present in this year’s competition.
While Hester, the category champion in 2016 (Classic Physique’s debut year at Olympia), has been retired from the stage for years, Ansley and Bumstead were on the sport’s most important stage until last year.
After winning his sixth uninterrupted title in 2024, Bumstead announced that he would leave the bodybuilding stage. Ansley, on the other hand, decided to move to 212, a division that will give him a higher weight limit to perform. Given the fact that the two were part of the top 5 of Classic Physique in the last eight editions of the Olympia, the top of the category should be made up of new names in 2025. Therefore, the blog decided to list athletes who could win the championship this year.
The most obvious names
Currently, there are two athletes who have the best chance of succeeding Cbum: Mike Sommerfeld and Ramon Rocha Queiroz, aka Dino.
Runner-up in the last edition, the German is currently the best athlete in the world in the category. With an ideal structure and practically perfect poses, he could become the great representative of Classic Physique.
Ramon, meanwhile, didn’t have a memorable season in 2024, as he lost his Arnold Classic Ohio title and went from second to fourth at the Olympia. However, the lack of weaknesses in his physique and his muscularity could take him to the top of the category.
Run outside
Despite not being directly named as potential successors to Cbum, Urs Kalecinski and Terrence Ruffin could take the top spot. While the German is constantly among the best placed – he won the bronze medal in the last three editions of the Olympia -, the American did not compete in 2024 and promises to present a renewed version of his physique this season.
Potential surprises
Jose Manuel Muñoz, Josema, and Matheus Menegate, who was once called the Brazilian Cbum, should consolidate themselves as potential candidates for the title. Both debuted at Olympia last year and came in sixth and ninth place, respectively. The two have shown meteoric developments in recent years and are no longer considered promises in the sport, but reality.
In unknown
Despite not having performed even one show in the category, Carlos de Oliveira, Caike Pro, is already seen as a potential heir to the Cbum title. The Brazilian competed in Men’s Physique until last year and decided to move to Classic Physique after understanding that his physique would fit better in this division.
With an unusual density, a relatively light structure – which allows him to add more muscle without exceeding the category’s weight limit – and an exemplary work ethic, he could mess up the predictions for the 2025 Olympia.
