The season of Championship Tour da World Surf League (WSL) This year’s event begins this Monday, January 27th, with the Banzai Pipeline stage, in Hawaii. Brazil will have 12 representatives in the WSL, although Gabriel Medina is expected to miss the entire season due to injury.
This year, there will be twelve stages in total, three more than last season. The calendar for the twelve stages is closed from February to September.
WSL: start date and where to watch
By 2025, all broadcasts of WSL in Brazil, all stages will be done free of charge not official site of the competition (www.worldsurfleague.com). The channel “WSL Brazil“, no Youtubewill broadcast heats from the opening round and recaps of the stages.
On television, as happened in previous years, the rights to all stages remained with SporTV, on closed TV.

Brazilians at WSL 2025
This year, twelve surfers will represent Brazil in the season. Tati Weston-Webb, Ítalo Ferreira and Yago Dora are holdovers from last season. Ian Gouveia, Alejo Muniz, David Silva, Michael Pupo, Samuel Pupo and Edgard Groggiain turn, achieved their classifications through the Challenger Series.
Luana Silva achieved her classification after receiving a place from Stephanie Gilmore. However, Brazil will have an important absence: Gabriel Medina.
Gabriel Medina was injured during training at Praia de Maresias, in São Sebastião, north coast of São Paulo on January 11th. While trying to perform an aerial maneuver, he injured the tendon of the pectoralis major muscle in his left shoulder. The athlete had to undergo surgery and will be out for the entire circuit.
