The former president () stated this Thursday (23) that his wife, , is a “good name” for the Presidency of the Republic in 2026 and gained popularity after traveling to the inauguration of , but then retreated and said that she should compete for .
The former president’s speech took place in an interview with CNN. He said that the former first lady is close to (), the current president, in polls of voting intentions and that she would have “a chance of getting there”.
“I don’t have a problem, I’ve been married to her for 17 years, it would also be a good name, right? With a chance of getting there. Obviously, her putting me as minister of the Civil House, maybe”, said Bolsonaro, laughing.
Then, on the Metrópoles website, the former president stated that he was talking about hypotheses when he mentioned Michelle, but that there is nothing negotiated for her to run for Palácio do Planalto. He reiterated that his wife should be a candidate for the Senate and that the greatest possibility for the Presidency of the Republic would be one of his children.
“No, nothing has been negotiated, nothing discussed. She is a candidate for the Senate here in . If I had to include someone from the family, it would be Flávio [Bolsonaro]Eduardo [Bolsonaro]”, declared the former president to Igor Gadelha’s column.
On CNN Bolsonaro once again criticized the possibility of being prevented from running in 2026 and evaluated the names of other leaders on the right for the presidential campaign, such as Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), (PRTB), Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), (Novo) and Ratinho Junior (PSD).
Regarding the governor of São Paulo, he said that he is an excellent manager, but highlighted the need to “talk to the population” in order to verify the viability of a national candidacy. He stated that Caiado and Zema do not have any expressiveness outside their states and that the singer is a good option for the Senate.
He also said he would not talk to Marçal because the influencer lacked authenticity, citing the fake drug use certificate against Guilherme Boulos (PSOL-SP) and the old video of the meeting with Trump, published as if it were during the inauguration, this week.
