Immigration authorities in Guatemala received a flight Friday morning with 79 Guatemalans deported from the United States, the country’s Migration Institute said.

In a statement, the Institute reported that among those deported there are 31 women and 48 men, all adults.

They are being cared for in shelters run by the Guatemalan government.

The Guatemalan National Council for Migrant Care, in a post on social media, reported that it provided personal hygiene products, food, as well as legal, psychological and transportation assistance to immigrants.

Speaking in Congress on Thursday (23), the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Martínez, said that they hope to have more information next Monday (27) about how many flights and people will arrive, and assured that they have requested details from the US government. USA to plan the receptions.

“We don’t have logistical, reception and service capacity,” said Martinez.
