It is considered a master of the Portuguese guitar. Carlos Paredes would be 100 years old on February 16, so a program was created to celebrate the centenary of the artist’s birth.
With a work that combines tradition and modernity, the songs influenced – and continue to influence – generations and generations.
“Still in December Songlines magazine was at the top of the list of the best guitarists in the world of all time,” explains Sara Pereira, director of the Fado Museum, to the poster.
“We are talking about someone who at 12 composed the “perpetual movement”, we are talking about absolute genius“He adds.
The celebrations will be made through more than 100 events, inside and outside Portugal.
“It is an open program, such as Carlos Paredes’s work. He managed to dialogue with the theater, with the dance …”.
A program that extends beyond borders and reaches 17 cities in 12 countries.
There are concerts, documentaries, exhibitions and workshops to see and to participate.
The celebrations start on February 5 at the S. Luiz Theater in Lisbon, with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra.
