Head of the Ukrainian presidential office Andriy Jermak warned on Friday that negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine should only take place with the participation of the United States and Russia, without the participation of Kyiv or representatives of European countries. He was reacting to the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said on Friday that he is ready to negotiate the war in Ukraine with the new US President Donald Trump. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

“He (Putin) wants to negotiate the fate of Europe without Europe. And he wants to negotiate about Ukraine without Ukraine,” said Jermak on the Telegram network. “That’s not going to happen. Putin needs to come back to reality or he’ll be brought back. That’s how it works in the modern world.” added the head of the Ukrainian presidential office.

Putin said on Friday that he is ready to negotiate with Trump about the war in Ukraine. The new US president announced several times during the campaign that he would like to end the war in Ukraine. On Wednesday, on his Truth Social network, he called on his Russian counterpart to come to an agreement to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible. Otherwise, it is said that the USA will impose “high taxes, duties and sanctions” on everything that Russia sells to them and other countries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is seeking a meeting with Trump, also admitted to Bloomberg on Tuesday that he had direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He added that such the meeting is possible only “if Ukraine gets a chance to end this war with a just peace for Ukraine, for Ukrainians”. “I understand that without Russia it is impossible to end this war diplomatically,” Zelensky declared.
