Lula uses “POV” language in Minha Casa, Minha Vida video

Term is used by young internet users; video demonstrates the changes in Planalto’s communication language

The president (PT) posted this Thursday (23 January 2025) a video showing the delivery of houses from the MCMV (Minha Casa, Minha Vida) program. The recording uses more typical network language, with expressions such as POV, which means “point of view“, in translation into Portuguese it is “point of view“.

The term is used by internet users, especially young people, to tell someone’s point of view about something. In the video, it shows the point of view of the people benefiting from the program.

The video shows Lula visiting the units delivered by the program and contains the phrase “Pov: the president who opens the most doors and opportunities in Brazil”.

NEW LANGUAGE

The publication is one of the first signs of a change in the language of Planalto’s communications team, after the new minister of Secom (Secretariat of Communication), Sidônio Palmeira, or positionon January 14th.

The publicist became responsible for remodeling government communication with the challenge of recovering President Lula’s popularity. He should also try to find a mark for the PT member’s 3rd term.

The president’s allies point out that the difference now, with the change, is that Sidônio will be able to print his style, considered more pragmatic and objective.
