What do you use to clean stains on a faucet? Instead of spending money on another store-bought product, use proven home methods. They are effective, inexpensive, and you probably already have most of the products you need. What will be useful for you?

Cleaning faucets can be tedious and time-consuming.

  • Constant contact with hard water and other substances, such as soap and cosmetics, quickly causes the formation of unsightly stains and limescale.
  • If you don’t get rid of it regularly, sooner or later it will even lead to water flow problems.

How to get your faucets back to perfect condition? Here are some proven home tricks to help you.

What to use to dissolve thick water scale? Use three ingredients

An effective trick to get rid of scale and dirt from faucets is the use of citrus, more precisely lemon or grapefruit juice, baking soda and salt.

  1. Mix these ingredients to form a thick paste and rub it into the dirt.
  2. Now simply wait 30-45 minutes (depending on the degree of soiling), then wipe the surface with a sponge and finally rinse with lukewarm water and wipe dry.
  3. No traces of stains or limescale will remain.

TIP! You can also use citrus fruits in two other ways – cut them in half, sprinkle them with salt and baking soda, and clean the dirt from the inside. Citric acid works well instead of fresh fruit. Add a little water to make a paste and use as with the pulp method.

How to descale the end of a water faucet? Soak and use

With water taps, it can be problematic to clean especially the end, where the most scale and dirt accumulate. In that case, homemade pastes alone may not be enough because they will simply fall off. That’s why it’s worth reaching for a clever home trick using cotton swabs.

  1. Put on protective gloves, thoroughly soak the pads in the pre-prepared mixture (vinegar alone also works) and stick the wet pads to hard-to-reach places.
  2. Use a rubber band to make sure they don’t fall off.
  3. Leave it on for about an hour, then sponge off, rinse and dry.

No traces of dirt will remain.
