The one in Ceará will hold, on February 7th, a membership event for state deputies who are leaving.
The expectation is that at least ten parliamentarians linked to senator Cid Gomes (CE) will join the PSB, in addition to substitutes for state deputies.
The party is chaired in the state by Eudoro Santana, father of the Minister of Education in the Lula government (PT).
Cid Gomes joined the PSB at the beginning of 2024 after leaving the PDT, following the political break with his brother and former minister Ciro Gomes. In the municipal ones, the parliamentarian’s group was aligned with the PT in several cities in Ceará, while Ciro has been opposing the PT members in the state.
The state deputies who will migrate from the PDT to the PSB obtained court approval to leave the party without the risk of losing their mandates.
There is an expectation that federal deputies who are still in the PDT will switch to the PSB, but only in 2026 during the party window.
Ceará is decisive in the intentions of strengthening the PSB. The party wants to expand its bench, currently 14 federal deputies, in next year’s election.
For the membership event in , senator Cid Gomes invited party leaders and intends to also call the three party governors, in addition to the vice-president (PSB). The mayor of Recife, João Campos, tipped to assume the national presidency of the party in May, will also be invited.
