Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is trying to intimidate society in Slovakia with his statements that there is a group of experts in the country who allegedly participated in the organization of the events on the Kyiv Maidan at the end of 2013 and at the beginning of 2014 a now he is trying to stage a coup in Slovakia. This was announced at Thursday’s press briefing by the spokesman of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tychy, reports TASR with reference to the Ukrainian agency Ukrinform.
“We consider these statements to be an attempt to intimidate Slovak society and consolidate their own electorate – nothing more and nothing less. The same was done by the leadership in Georgia. It’s a standard fairy tale,” said a spokesman for the Ukrainian ministry. He added that the Slovak prime minister should rather think about his own actions, which, according to Kyiv, are causing tension in Slovak society.
“It looks like the Slovak prime minister has pulled something out of the closet that has been corrupted for a long time, which is no longer nice to use in public.” the spokesman of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on Fico’s statements about the Maidan.
On Wednesday, Fico informed that there is a group of experts on the territory of the Slovak Republic that participated in the recent large-scale anti-government demonstrations in Georgia and years ago in the events on the Maidan in Kyiv. which led to the fall of the government of the then president Viktor Yanukovych. According to Fico, this group is funded by the US. On Thursday, after the meeting of the Security Council of the Slovak Republic pointed out that there are active structures in Slovakia that plan to provoke large-scale public protests, escalate them into violence and finally attempt a coup.
