Federal deputy Rosana Valle (PL-SP) sent letters to the National Supplementary Agency (ANS) and the Ministry of Health asking for explanations about a public consultation that could prevent women aged 40 to 50 from accessing mammograms provided by health plans. .
The agency cites guidance on carrying out these exams in the private network only after the age of 50, and every two years, no longer annually.
In the letters, the deputy says that reducing the frequency of this type of analysis to two years and increasing the recommended age means that fewer mammograms are authorized by health plans – which would meet the “economic interests” of health plans.
“The creation of a quality seal is positive, but making its grant conditional on requesting a mammogram only after the age of 50, and even every two years, goes against the recommendation of most medical entities”, she says, who adds that around 40% of diagnoses are made in women under 50 years of age.
