Sao Paulo fans who returned to Pacaembu on Saturday morning to the Copinha final reported a mixture of nostalgia anxious to enter the stadium.

Sérgio, who lives in Rio Pequeno, Butantã, had arrived at the stadium at 8am and was still waiting at 9am.

“Copinha finals were public, for the city’s anniversary, had no ticket charges. With the charge, it is no longer a commemorative city, it is more entertainment like any other.”

He was waiting in the gradis with a crowd of fans, extended to Pacaembu Avenue.

For Carlos Oliveira, the wait was even longer. He had arrived from Osasco at 6am to his first Copinha final. “I had only seen a show here, when it was still from City Hall, but it is the first time.”
