Juicy gyro schnitzels. All your favorite flavors on one plate

Gyros schnitzel is a dish inspired by Greek and Turkish cuisine. They are exceptionally aromatic and soft. They go great with garlic sauce or tzatziki. The cutlets are baked at high temperature, not fried. The recipe uses ready-made gyros seasoning, but you can also use it in your favorite proportions.

  • 500 g of ground beef or preferably lamb,
  • 1/2 small onion,
  • small carrot,
  • 3 cloves of garlic,
  • egg in size L or XL,
  • a teaspoon of gyros spice,
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt,
  • a teaspoon of dried parsley,
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper,
  • 3 tablespoons of lemon juice,
  • mayonnaise for spreading.

How to do it:

Peel the onion and carrot and grate them on a fine grater. Squeeze out excess juices.

Put the minced meat, grated vegetables, beaten egg and all spices into a bowl. Add pressed garlic and sprinkle with lemon juice. Mix the mass thoroughly for several minutes until it is fluffy and elastic. Place it in the refrigerator for about an hour.

After this time, form oblong cutlets from the meat and place them on an oven tray lined with baking paper. Put a teaspoon of mayonnaise on each cutlet. Spread them on the surface of the meat.

Set the oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Bake the gyros cutlets for 10-15 minutes until the meat inside is cooked. Serve the dish with your favorite starch and salad. French fries and delicate coleslaw will go great here.
