Lines 8-diamond and 9-emerald will have an unprecedented connection between them. The announcement was made this week by ViaMobilidade, the company responsible for administering services on both lines.
The estimated investment to build a railway viaduct that will connect Ceasa stations, on line 9, and Imperatriz Leopoldina, on line 8, is around R$480 million.
The project involves the expansion of line 9 to Água Branca or Barra Funda, which allows direct connection from the Pinheiros region to Água Branca. It also foresees the structuring of a service that will connect line 9 to Barueri station (line 8) and, in the opposite direction, to Água Branca station.
According to the company, the investments will allow the waiting time for trains to be reduced to approximately three minutes along the entire line.
“It will be possible to serve more passengers per hour – especially at peak times – and increase the number of trains on the tracks, making the system more efficient and reliable, in addition to promoting better use of existing infrastructure, such as tracks, signaling and stations”, says the company.
Furthermore, ViaMobilidade states that the project will facilitate the offering of exclusive services, such as express services for large events and, consequently, to more people.
