The MEC (Ministry of Education) passed, in 2024, R $ 341.5 million to improve and expand the infrastructure of the institutions that compose the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education.
The consolidation action, made possible by New PAC (New Growth Acceleration Plan)from the federal government, seeks to improve the infrastructure of the units to have all the necessary equipment for its operation. The initiative began in 2023 and also foresees R $ 751.9 million of investment in the coming years, totaling R $ 1.4 billion.
In 2024, 206 projects were contemplated, especially the construction of 124 new student restaurants, 27 definitive campuses and 22 libraries. There are still multi -sport courts, academic structures (laboratories and classrooms), among others. All of these actions benefit thousands of students in the IFs (federal institutes), the CEFETs (Federal Centers of Technological Education) and Pedro 2nd College, institutions that form the federal network.
According to Minister Camilo Santana (Education), investments directly impact students’ permanence and success. “This is just the beginning of this great project of President Lula to improve existing IFs, benefiting academic communities from all over Brazil”he said.
The Secretary of Professional and Technological Education of MEC, Marcelo Bragagnoli, highlights the commitment of this management with free and quality public education offered by the institutions that make up the federal network.
“This investment allows the expansion in the offer of vacancies to young people and adults and qualifies the service to students. For the new PAC, in 4 years, there are 269 new student restaurants – a policy that contributed to the permanence of students – and 57 libraries, qualitative action in the formation of students ”he declared.

The federal network currently has 686 units present in all states and in the Federal District, offering free professional qualification courses, technical, superior and postgraduate to more than 1.6 million students.
