São Paulo is the 2025 Copinha champion! In a final full of emotion and marked by rivalry, Tricolor beat Corinthians 3-2, this Saturday (25), and won the competition’s fifth title.
The match took place at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu stadium, the stage that will once again host the tournament final after five years.
The goals of the match were scored by Paulinho (2) and Andrade, for São Paulo, and by Denner and Gui Negão, for Corinthians.
Balanced first half
The first half started off busy. The first arrival was from Corinthians, who won a free kick in the middle. Dieguinho charged and sent the ball into the area, but Garcez deflected it out.
The teams created good chances in the first half, with São Paulo arriving dangerously after Negrucci’s shot in the ninth minute, forcing goalkeeper Kauê to make a good save. At 10 minutes, Hugo left the field injured for Samuel to enter.
São Paulo dominated the game and put pressure on the Alvinegra team, but saw Corinthians grow afterwards. Matheus Alves, from São Paulo, received the first yellow card of the match after interrupting a promising move by the Corinthians player.
Change of pace
At 25 minutes, the game gained another rhythm and started to get more intense. Pellegrin made a good individual play on the right, invading the area and hitting a shot against the crossbar. Tricolor responded immediately, almost opening the score after Ferreira shot from outside the area and hit the post.
The first goal came from Denner’s feet in the 33rd minute. With a throw from Garcez, Denner dominated inside the area, dribbled past Lucas Loss and sent his right leg into the goal, scoring a great goal.
The equalizer was almost achieved after Guilherme’s cross into the small area. Samuel turned and hit, but the ball went out on the right side.
Timãozinho reacted and began to dominate the match.
Corinthians expanded with Gui Negão in the 43rd minute of the first half, who took advantage of Nicollas’s splashed ball and shot over the Tricolor goalkeeper.
But the celebration didn’t last long. Two minutes later, in the 45th minute, Ferreira took a corner kick at the first post, Paulinho rose high and deflected it into the back of the net, reducing it for Tricolor.
Second half
São Paulo made two changes: Lucas Osorio and Pedro Ferreira replaced Lucas Loss and Samuel. The first arrival of the second half was the boys from Cotia. Ferreira took a corner kick and Osorio headed it in, but the ball went over the baseline.
Soon after, Paulinho received the ball at the edge of the area, turned and hit, but the Corinthian archer saved.
São Paulo was more active in the second half, forcing the goalkeeper to make good saves. Corinthians made the first two changes with the departure of Nicollas and Pellegrin and the entry of Vitinho and Lucas Corrêa.
The equalizer came 16 minutes into the second half. Alves took the corner at the second post and Andrade rose free to tie the game.
With the support of the fans and much more excitement, Tricolor Paulista turned the game around four minutes later. Maik crossed at the second post for Paulinho, who rose free and scored his second goal of the match.
The scorer left the field shortly afterwards, being replaced by Raphinha. Tetê and Bezerra also replaced Lucca and Paulinho.
On the Corinthians side, Araújo, Caraguá, Vitinho and Dieguinho replaced Bahia, Thomas, Luiz Eduardo and Richard, respectively.
Behind the scoreboard, Corinthians went after São Paulo in the final minutes, seeking to reverse the setback.
Despite this, São Paulo knew how to manage the end of the match, sealing the victory and guaranteeing the title.
