A Kaspersky identified six specific applications that users should avoid or uninstall immediately due to the risk they pose for personal data:

  • MaskVPN
  • Dewvpn
  • PaladinVPN
  • ProxyGate
  • ShieldVPN
  • ShineVPN

These applications, while presenting features similar to legitimate VPN services, hide viruses that can collect confidential information, including passwords and bank data.

How to protect?

To minimize the risks of cybers, the recommends that users take the following measures:

  1. Check the origin of the applications: Opt for applications available at official stores, such as the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Avoid unloading apps from unknown websites or non -reliable sources.
  2. Consult reviews and comments: Read the evaluations of other users and search for application information before installing it. Beware of apps with few reviews or suspicious criticism.
  3. Update the operating system and applications: Regular updates help correct known security vulnerabilities.
  4. Use protection software: Install a reliable security solution on your device to detect and eliminate threats.
  5. Eliminate suspicious applications: If you have already installed any of the applications listed by Kaspersky, uninstall it immediately and change the passage words of your sensitive accounts.
