The United States Commercial Representative Office (USTR) announced on Friday that it will conduct a review of the trade and economic agreement it maintains with China.
The goal is to verify that the Asian country has been acting in accordance with the terms combined in the pact.
The agreement was signed in early 2020, shortly before the hatching of the Covid-19 pandemic, and determined goals for imports of American products by the Chinese.
In a separate note, USTR said it will also revise commercial practices that can be considered unfair to the US, including those that, in a “irrationally and discriminatory manner” restrict US commerce.
Advertisements are part of a package of measures that US President Donald Trump has taken in the early days of government. The Republican promises to make a comprehensive renovation in the commercial system and has already threatened to implement imports to imports.
