The woman who pretended to be a health agent to kidnap a one and a half year old baby in Curitiba (PR) dyed, cut and straightened the child’s hair during the period she was with her. The girl was found by police last Friday night (24), one day after her disappearance. She’s doing well.
“We found that the girl who kidnapped her had cut her hair, dyed it and had undergone a chemical procedure to straighten her hair. Obviously no baby can be subjected to this”, comments Leonardo Mestre, lawyer for the baby’s family.
For the lawyer, the procedures carried out on the girl’s hair were “clearly with the aim of mischaracterizing and making it difficult for the child to be recognized”.
He added that, after the rescue, the girl received medical attention. No injuries were found on the child. “Everything indicates that this woman [a sequestradora] was looking for a daughter, who was not kidnapped for violent purposes.”
According to the lawyer, the girl is already at home with her family. The 41-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday, but her name was not released.
How was the case
According to the family, the child’s mother was approached by a woman who said she was a health agent and was investigating a report of mistreatment. She argued that she would need to take the baby to undergo a medical examination to investigate.
The kidnapper asked the woman to get the child into a car, which had no license plates. In the vehicle, the criminal instructed the mother to place the girl in a car seat in the back seat.
Just as the mother was putting the child in the car seat, the kidnapper took off in the car and fled. She was located with the baby the next day in a house in the city of Campo Largo, in the metropolitan region of Curitiba.
The suspect was charged with kidnapping an incapacitated person.
