Illegal immigrants in the United States of America began to be deported

The Portuguese Counselor in California anticipates few deportations in the Portuguese community.

Hundreds of illegal immigrants in the United States began to be deported to countries of origin. To Brazil and Guatemala have arrived several flights. The images show the migrants handcuffed and with chained feet.

With handcuffed hands and chained feet, it was thus dozens of migrants left the United States to Guatemala. The photographs were released by the US Department of Defense during two deportation flights. Each transported about 80 people.

The same happened with more than 88 Brazilians. A video released on social networks shows the first flight, which was forced to make an emergency stop in Manaus due to technical problems showed the conditions in which migrants traveled.

The government of Lula da Silva condemned the situation. In a statement, the Brazilian Ministry of Justice ordered the US authorities the immediate withdrawal of the handcuffs that it is a “flagrant disrespect for fundamental rights”.
