The new manager, who took office in January, will receive the same as his predecessor, Ana Carvalho.
On January 2, Gonçalo Regalado assumed the role of executive president of Banco Português de Fomento (BPF), replacing Ana Carvalho, whose mandate was not renewed by the government.
The new CEO receives a gross monthly salary of 22,830 eurossurpassing the 18,177 euros paid by the governor of the Bank of Portugal and approaching the 30,214 euros paid to the president of Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) in 2023.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the remuneration of the BPF administration have not changed between 2022 and 2024 and will remain the same in the next term, from 2025 to 2027, reports .
In 2022, Ana Carvalho, as CEO, received the same amount as Gonçalo Regalado, while the then ‘chairman’, Celeste Hagatong, received 18,500 euros gross per month. Members of the administration had a salary of 15,980 euros.
Ana Carvalho left the leadership of BPF at the end of 2024 and was invited by Paulo Macedo, president of CGD, to join the public bank administration. At CGD, you will receive more than 23 thousand euros gross per month. In the last full year in office at BPF, 2023, Ana Carvalho received a total of 260,300 euros, according to the report and accounts.
Celeste Hagatong, in turn, ceased her duties as chairman of the BPF in September 2024, for health reasons. Since taking office, in November 2022, until his departure, received 210,900 euros gross in 2023. The name of who will succeed her in the post has not yet been released by the Government.
Since its creation in 2020, Banco Português de Fomento has faced criticism for its management and transparency. Despite this, it showed significant growth in profits in 2023, with a consolidated result of 24.7 million euros, compared to the three million obtained in 2022.
