Supporters of São Paulo and Corinthians fought early Sunday afternoon (26) at Avenida Marquês de São Vicente, Barra Funda, West Zone of the state capital.
According to the Military Police, the confrontation occurred around 1 pm, a few hours before the classic between the two teams for the Paulista Championship. The game takes place at 18:30 at the Morumbis stadium, in the west of the city.
Images that circulate on social networks show the groups armed with sticks.
In a statement, the São Paulo State Public Security Secretariat says the PM was called to intervene in a riot among the fans. At the scene, the police would have found fans from Sao Paulo who reported a meeting with a small group of Corinthians fans, which generated the confusion.
The folder says there is no record of injuries and no occurrence was reported in the emergency units of the region.
The fight took place a few meters from Drade’s headquarters (a police station that investigates fans of fans) and the headquarters of the main organized fans of Palmeiras, rivals of São Paulo and Corinthians.
According to a survey published by Sheet In 2024, at least 7 fans died in the state of São Paulo in such confrontations since 2016, the year when the unique crowd was adopted to reduce fights.
