The Vila do Bispo Museum – Celeiro da História marked, on January 20th, its first year of existence, bringing together the local community in a celebration full of cultural moments and sharing. The initiative was attended by children from the 1st Cycle, users of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Vila do Bispo, “cracked cane” players and several friends of the museum space.
The program began with a welcome reception from Mayor Rute Silva, who praised the importance of the Museum as guardian of the city’s history and identity. Next, the mural “Our Museum” was presented, the result of collective work by children from the 1st Cycle who attend Extracurricular Heritage & Arts Activities, organized by the municipality of Vila do Bispo. The work illustrated, in a creative way, the young people’s vision of the cultural value of the Museum.
The afternoon continued with a convivial snack, animated by “cracked cane” players, to the sound of which congratulations to the Museum were sung. One of the highlights was the symbolic encounter between dinosaurs and AEC children, in a gesture that united children’s imagination with the richness of the region’s paleontological heritage.
In the Museum Auditorium, it was time to take stock of the first year of activity and to present projects under development, among which the digital repository of the Vila do Bispo Museum stands out. This tool aims to safeguard and make the collection more accessible, promoting research and the sharing of knowledge about the territory.
The celebration reinforced the role of – Celeiro da História as a community forum and a repository of collective heritage. Once a wheat storage space, the building has become a place where memory, heritage and culture come to life, fostering local pride and encouraging dialogue between generations.
