Betfair tool shows that Neymar would exceed $ 1.1 billion in values of 2025; Rivaldo and Ronaldo would have multiplied prices
It launched it on 23.Jan.2025 a calculator that updates historical values of transfers from world football. The tool considers inflation and market factors to estimate how much players such as Rivaldo, Ronaldo and Neymar today would cost.
The football transfer market moved $ 2 billion in Brazil in 2024, according to the CBF. In the global scenario, negotiations totaled US $ 7.91 billion, according to data from FIFA International Transfer Snapshot.
The most expensive transfer in Neymar’s football history from Barcelona to PSG in 2017 for R $ 813 million would reach R $ 1.1 billion in values corrected for 2025.
Among the historical transfers analyzed, Rivaldo do Palmeiras to Deportivo La Coruña, on 8.Jul.1996, would jump from $ 11 million to $ 56 million. Already Ronaldo, negotiated from Barcelona to Inter Milan in 1997 for R $ 59.7 million, would be worth R $ 281.8 million. The sale of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2009, originally for $ 120 million, would reach $ 512 million.
“The tool considers not only inflation, but also the evolution of the football market, including transmission rights and commercial agreements,” explains Rosiane Siqueira, senior public relations manager at Betfair.
The calculator is available for free on the Betfair website and allows fans to calculate values of other historical transfers.
In 2024, the largest transfers of Brazilian football – Thiago Almada (R $ 137.4 million) to Botafogo and Paulinho (R $ 115 million) to Palmeiras – would not reach the updated value of Ronaldo’s transfer in 1997.
