All districts on the continent are under warnings this Monday and Tuesday due to rain and strong wind, eight of which are red due to sea unrest, due to the effects of the Herminia depression, according to IPMA.
The districts of Porto, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga will be under red warning, the most serious, from 12pm on Monday and until 9am on Tuesday due to unrest at sea. , predicting waves from the northwest with 7 to 8 meters in height, reaching 14 meters.
These districts are under orange warning until 12:00 on Monday, then turning to red until 9:00 on Tuesday and again to orange between 9:00 and 9:00 on Tuesday.
Because of the waves, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) placed the districts of Faro and Beja until 9pm on Tuesday, then turning yellow until 6pm on Wednesday.
Due to the state of the sea, the sea bars of Aveiro, Caminha, Douro, Esposende, Figueira da Foz, Vila Praia de Âncora, Vila do Conde, Póvoa do Varzim and the port of Ericeira and Horta (Azores) are closed to navigation, according to the National Maritime Authority and Portuguese Navy.
The Viana do Castelo and Leixões bars are closed to vessels with a length of less than 30 and 35 meters, respectively.
The IPMA also issued a yellow warning for the districts of Santarém, Lisbon and Portalegre until 09:00 due to rain, sometimes heavy, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms.
Also because of the rain, Évora and Beja are under yellow warning until 12:00 this Monday and Faro and Setúbal until 15:00
The Institute issued a yellow warning due to strong winds for the districts of Santarém, Lisbon and Portalegre until 6pm this Monday, for Évora until 12pm this Monday, Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Vila Real, Castelo Branco, Aveiro and Coimbra until 9pm this Monday and to Porto, FaroSetúbal, Viana do Castelo, Leiria, Beja and Braga until 09:00 on Tuesday.
The districts of Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, Braga and Castelo Branco are also under yellow warning between 6pm this Monday and 12pm Tuesday due to snowfall above 700 meters.
The north coast of the island of Madeira and Porto Santo are also under yellow warning due to sea unrest until 6pm on Tuesday.
The strong swell led to the issuing of yellow warnings in the central group (Graciosa, Terceira, Faial, Pico and São Jorge) of the Azores until 12pm this Monday (1pm in Lisbon).
The red warning is issued in cases of extreme risk meteorological situations. The orange warning indicates a meteorological situation of moderate to high risk and the yellow warning indicates a risk for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
