Phloxes (also known as phloxes) are decorative perennials from the Polyphyceae family that come from regions of North America.. The local prairies and forests are their natural habitat, but these beautiful ornamental plants have been successfully cultivated all over the world for a long time.

Phloxes are usually sown in April or March (for seedlings), provided that the ground has already thawed and is not saturated with water. This is a good time to plant flowers because it gives the plants time to take root and grow before the summer season. If you want to wait, put them directly into the ground in the second half of May, but it is not worth delaying, although there are also those who sow phloxes in autumn, in October.
It is also possible to plant phloxes in winter, but only in a pot kept at homein a greenhouse or other sheltered place where they will not freeze.

Sow the flames in light, permeable soil. It should be fertile (preferably with the addition of compost). For winter cultivation of phloxes in pots, peat mixed with sand in a 3:1 ratio is ideal.
If you wait until spring to plant in the ground, be sure to make sure the soil is properly aerated and free of weeds. Growing phloxes in a pot requires using a pot with drainage holes. Fill it with soil and press gently.
Sow the phloxes shallowly, covering them with a thin layer of soil so that they germinate without any problems. Try to keep at least a few centimeters between plants. Cover the container with a lid or dark foil (then they will rise faster).
Water the phloxes regularly (spray with water) so that the soil is constantly slightly moist, but not overwatered, otherwise the seeds may rot. When the seedlings reach about 3 cm in height and the first leaves appear, you can transplant them individually into the garden (if the risk of frost has passed) or target pots.
Remember that phloxes feel best in a sunny or semi-shaded position. Regardless of whether they are grown in the garden or in a pot on the terrace or balcony. Taller varieties prefer places sheltered from the wind because their shoots are more susceptible to damage.
