In retaliation to Trump, Petro increases tariff against US imports by 25%

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced on Sunday night (26) 25% on products imported from the United States. The measure was a response to a similar ad made by Donald Trump.

This afternoon, Trump imposed an emergency rate of 25% on all Colombian products after the nation refuses flights with deported immigrants. The US President also announced sanctions on the Treasury and the Financial Sector and said he would ban trips and revoke visas to government officials.

“I order the Minister of Foreign Trade to increase US import tariffs by 25%. The ministry should help direct our exports to the rest of the world except the US, ”wrote Petro in X.

The president of Colombia also said that US products should be replaced by national production, and the government will support this purpose. Trump also said that he can use “his economic strength and his pride,” but will resist the measurements.
