The new president of the Police Force will be Jana Maškarová. Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) announced this at a press conference on Monday. Maškarová will replace Ľubomír Solák in the position, who was terminated in connection with the attack on the gymnasium in Spišská Stará Ves.
The Minister of the Interior informed that Maskarová has been in charge of managing the police since Monday. He mentioned that both the ministry and the police face several challenges, for example the fight against illegal migration, state security, but also personnel stabilization of the Police Force.
The new police chief declared that will try to increase the attractiveness of the police so that young people join the force. During her tenure, she would also like to create more attractive salary conditions, ensure a better physical and health condition of police officers or help them with housing. She declared that she would try to increase the public’s trust in the Police Force.
Solák ended his post as police chief in connection with the attack on the gymnasium in Spišská Stará Ves. He worked in the position from December 2023.
