The Federal Police (PF) took a stance against the end of the precautionary measures imposed on Filipe Martins, former advisor to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). To Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), the corporation stated that it was necessary to maintain procedures due to the investigations in which he is being investigated. THE Estadão contacted the defense of Filipe Martinsbut received no response until the publication of this text.

On Tuesday (21), Moraes ordered the Paraná Court to provide, within five days, a report on compliance with these measures. The decision was motivated by a request from the 3rd District Court of Ponta Grossa, which questioned the validity of the restrictions, without indicating possible non-compliance on the part of the former advisor.

Filipe Martins is being investigated in the investigation investigating the attempted coup to prevent the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The restrictions on Martins were determined after his arrest, which lasted six months and was reversed in August by decision of Moraes.

Martins was the target of Operation Tempus Veritatis in February 2024, which investigated the attempt to prevent Lula from taking office. He is appointed as part of the legal nucleus responsible for preparing the so-called “coup draft”, supposedly intended to formulate a “legal” basis for the institutional rupture.

In the investigation that led to his arrest, the PF argued that there was a risk of fleeing the country, especially after suspicions that Martins had traveled to the United States with Bolsonaro. However, data provided by operator Tim confirmed that he remained in Brazilian territory during the period in question.
