The opposition continues to be concerned that The Slovak Information Service (SIS) was misused by the coalition. She says that she did not learn anything new at Monday’s extraordinary session of the parliamentary committee to control the activities of the SIS. It follows from the statements of opposition politicians after the end of the committee that they initiated due to concerns about the abuse of the SIS in relation to the report, which is supposed to contain information about the attempt to destabilize the Slovak Republic.
“Deliberation of the control committee to control the activity of the SIS, despite its length, did not refute our doubts that the secret service was misused by coalition politicians,” Zuzana Števulová (PS), member of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic, stated for journalists. According to her, the negotiation had no meaning. She pointed out that they had not received the required evidence.
Member of Parliament Mária Kolíková (SaS) also stated that she did not learn anything new at the committee. She warned on suspicions of criminal activity during the preparation of the SIS report. She also spoke about concerns about abuse of authority by a public official. “This meeting did nothing to dispel my suspicions,” she said.
Likewise, František Majerský (KDH) drew attention to the fact that he did not get any new information at the committee. According to his own words, he still has suspicions of abuse by the government coalition. He also pointed out that the opposition does not have access to the information discussed at the meeting of the Security Council of the Slovak Republic. He thinks that if there is a fear of a coup d’état organized by groups from abroad, the opposition representatives should also have access to the information.
The Security Council of the Slovak Republic discussed the SIS report last week, which should contain information about the attempt to destabilize the Slovak Republic. She advised the government to take the necessary preventive measures. President Peter Pellegrini, the leadership of the National Council of the Slovak Republic and Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) described the situation as serious. The prime minister fears a possible attempt to organize a coup in Slovakia.
