The tremors occurred early Monday morning in a mine in the Silesian town of Radlin, near Ostrava in the Czech Republic. The Polish radio RMF FM reported on this with reference to the dispatcher of the State Mining Office. According to the office, the tremors with a magnitude of 3.15 occurred at three o’clock in the morning in the Marcel mine at a depth of 800 meters, and at least six people were injured. A total of 29 people were in the area of the tremors. “Two people came to us with multiple organ injuries. Their health condition is not life-threatening. One of our rescue teams is on site in the mine,” said Cezary Tomiczek, director of the hospital in the town of Wodzislav Šlonsky in the Silesian Voivodeship. This is the second mining accident in Poland in recent days. Last Wednesday, methane gas ignited in a coal mine in the town of Knurow-Szczyglowice. There were 16 miners at a depth of 850 meters at the time, nine of whom suffered serious burns. The accident has claimed three lives so far.
