The White House said, on Sunday night (26), that Colombia agreed with the “unrestricted acceptance” of immigrants who entered illegally in the US, and that President Donald Trump will not charge a 25% tariff over the country “less less that Colombia does not honor this agreement. ”
“The Colombian government agreed with all the terms of President Trump, including the unrestricted acceptance of all Colombian illegal foreigners who have returned from the United States, including US military aircraft, without limitation or delay,” said press secretary Karoline Leavitt in the statement.
“Based on this agreement, fully written IEEPA’s rates and sanctions will be kept in reserve and not signed unless Colombia does not honor this agreement,” he added.
Leavitt said the rates and financial sanctions will be paused, but visa sanctions against Colombian authorities and the most rigorous customs inspections of Colombian citizens and Trump -sorted cargo ships will remain in force “until the first deported plane will remain in force Colombians are successfully returned. ”
The announcement comes after Trump and Colombian President Gustavo Petro, after Petro carrying Colombian citizens who entered the US illegally.
The statement does not say if Trump and Petro spoke after their flood of threats on Sunday.
