O Automatic pix It should move at least $ 30 billion in the first two years of operation only in e-commerce, according to a study released on Tuesday by the company specializing in EBANX payments.

The Central Bank plans to launch in June the automatic pix, a modality that promises to facilitate the scheduling of recurring payments. Pix today moves more than 2 trillion reais per month in payments and transfers, according to BC data.

“He (automatic pix) tends to be very large and very relevant,” he told Reuters Ebanx Vice President of Product Eduardo de Abreu, as segments of e-commerce such as streaming services and “Software as Service” companies have a business model based on recurring revenues.

Automatic pix should attract $ 30 billion in the first 2 years only in e-commerce, says Ebanx

Automatic Pix will allow payments with weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual recurrence, in a free service to customers and will be offered by companies – which differentiates it from already operating Recurrent pixwhat part of the users.

Although Abreu see the credit card as the main rival of the automatic pix in e -commerce, he said that most of the growth of the new feature in his first two years of operation should come from new customers, today without a card or without limit to access these services.

Quoting data from the PCMI Research and Intelligence Company, the study points out that automatic pix would earn about $ 2 billion credit card market in the first year of operation, without detailing performance the following year.

In total, the credit card moves approximately $ 50 billion in recurring payments annually in Brazilian e -commerce, according to the study, conducted by EBANX with internal data and other companies.

Automatic PIX may be higher than EBANX estimates, as the study does not include the market beyond e -commerce, such as water and light bills, today settled by payment such as ticket and automatic debit, which require bilateral contracts between companies and banks.

Automatic pix, on the other hand, will make it possible to centralize in only one bank, with the advantage of offering instant liquidation, which does not occur in other payment modalities.

Alexandre Albuquerque, a senior analyst at Moody’s Ratings, said banks should not be much affected by automatic pix as they have diverse recipes and have been offering benefits to holding customers on credit cards such as cashback.
“Our view is that it will not cause a significant loss of revenue for the large banks of the system,” he told the Reuters.

Still, in a strategy that seems to target the loyalty and attraction of companies before launch, Banks has been anticipating to offer recurring payments via Pix, even in versions to a limited audience.

Santander Brasil already has a product that allows you to schedule recurring payments via Pix, while Bradesco and Itaú Unibanco said they plan similar releases for the coming weeks.
