Brazil records the 5th largest food inflation in the G20 in 2024

Country was only behind Argentina, Türkiye, Russia and India, according to data from the Austin Rating risk classification agency

Brazil had the 5th largest food inflation among G20 countries – which brings together the 19 largest economies in the world – in 2024. 7,69% last year, according to data from (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).

In the annual variation, the country did only better than Argentina (94.7%), Turkey (43.6%), Russia (11.1%) and India (8.4%). The data are survey by the risk classification agency exclusively for the Poder360.

Some countries like Japan (6.4%) and Mexico (4.4%) performed better as to the variation in prices of goods and services.

Influence on Full Inflation

In 2024, full inflation – which includes other items -. The country also in 5th by considering this criterion among G20 countries.

On Sunday (26.jan.2025), the President (PT) that the high dollar and the heated economy contribute to the price of food. The petista signaled that he will talk to producers and traders about the subject.
