Former players lead investor group who acquired Monterrey Funditors, now Osos, with the objective of expanding internationally
Blake Griffin, a former NBA player, and NFL player Ryan Kalil, lead a group of investors who acquired most of Monterrey Funditors, a team that composes the LFA (American Futbol League) of Mexico. The transaction was evaluated in 7 digits, as reported by Kalil, without additional details released. The information was released by Sporty.
The investor group consists of former Kalil partner at Carolina Panthers, such as Luke Kuechly, Greg Olsen, Jonathan Stewart and Julius Peppers, nominated for the 2024 professional fame. Kittle, Sam Dranold, Dan “Big Cat” Katz and Eric Sollenberger.
The team was renamed how, and the new owners plan to produce a backstage documentary and the team’s first season. The documentary will address the experiences of players and coaches.
The LFA was founded 9 years ago, but football in Mexico originates from university initiatives from over 1 century ago and has been consolidated with the creation of Onefa in 1978. Since then, the sport has attracted attention in the country, being considered a of the NFL priority international markets. Ten NFL teams currently have marketing rights in the region.

Kalil stated that the investment allows greater involvement with the development of sport and mentioned the possibility of future partnerships between LFA and NFL, although there are no definitions yet.
