The court of Spain summoned on Monday afternoon (27) Brazilian journalist Oswaldo Eustáquio for an audience on February 6, where the Spanish judiciary will judge Brazil’s request for the fugitive to serve sentence in the European country.
The national hearing must also analyze the extradition request. Eustáquio has lived in Spain since 2023, when he left Brazil, migrated to Paraguay and then made an asylum request in Europe.
Two weeks ago, CNN revealed that the Spanish government approved the follow -up of the extradition request. This new step is up to justice.
by determination of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) by threat, corruption of minors and attempted abolition of the democratic state by acts of 8 January.
In a statement, the defense of Oswaldo Eustáquio states that “at the hearing will be evoked Spanish constitution that provides that no foreigner will be returned to his country of origin for political reasons.”
“As well as the Royal Decree 12/2009 that expresses that the request of political asylum prevents the follow -up of an extradition process at any stage of which it is,” says lawyer Ricardo Vasconcellos.
