This Tuesday (28), marks the last day for registration at (ProUni) 2025, an initiative that offers full and partial scholarships for undergraduate courses in private higher education institutions. This program is an option for many who face financial difficulties, allowing them to continue their studies without the weight of tuition. According to a survey by, about 44% of college students could be forced to lock their courses due to the inability to pay tuition.
Unemployment is cited as the main reason, with 29% of students indicating that the lack of employment forces them to interrupt their studies. In addition, 19% of respondents say they need to prioritize the payment of other accounts, such as medicines and medical treatments, to the detriment of university monthly fees. Other factors include income reduction, mentioned by 12% of students, and health spending, pointed out by 11% as reasons for locking enrollment.
The financial consequences for students are significant, with student debts reaching $ 7,000 to 63% of respondents. This financial burden not only affects students’ well-being, but also directly impacts their academic performance. About 24% of students reported concentration difficulties in classes due to late accounts.
Despite the difficulties faced, 59% of students to regularize their debts to continue their studies.
