The Czech Senate did not approve a disputed amendment, on the basis of which the salaries were to increase salaries, judges and prosecutors (prosecutors) by almost seven percent. However, the amendments have not passed, so the artwork will not return to the Chamber of Deputies, but after the deadline, the president will receive it. The calculation of the wages of constitutional officials will be complicated, the TASR reporter in Prague informs.

There were 28 out of 60 senators present for approval. To pass the proposal, three more voices were needed. Senators disagreed, for example, to restrict the salaries of judges and government representatives or remuneration for the cumulation of functions by regional and municipal politicians introduced by the amendment.

The Senate did not approve any amendments. The YES movement therefore did not make the freezing of the salaries of constitutional officials by the end of 2029, What they together with the SPD movement unsuccessfully tried in the Chamber of Deputies, where the amendment passed.

In the upper chamber (Senate), it was first voted on whether they approved the amendment, which failed. However, the proposal for its rejection and subsequent return to the Lower Chamber (Chamber of Deputies) did not fall at all. And since none of the amendments passed, the senators did not take any position “. The amendment automatically travels to signature to the President, who will receive it after the deadline, ie after 16 February.

Based on the draft amendment, salary should be increased by 6.95 percent. Originally, it was supposed to be almost 14 percent, which was raised by a wave of criticism. The salary of the President should be 365,000 crowns per month (more than EUR 14,400), the premiere salary of 293,900 crowns (about 11,600 euros) and the salary of an ordinary deputy 109,000 crowns (approximately 4300 euros).

The coalition in promoting the proposal argued that it responds to The decision of the Constitutional Court, which was resulted in the legal coefficient that was used to calculate the salaries of politicians last May. The reason was that last year their salaries remained in connection with one modification in the consolidation package essentially at the pre -Christmas level. However, this also influenced the wages of judges who did not like this freezing and the Constitutional Court ruled in their favor.
