38,677 Brazilians await deportation under Trump government

US internal security department report lists at least 1.45 million immigrants waiting for deportation; Data are from November 2024

Data from They show that at least 38,677 Brazilians on American soil are awaiting deportation for Brazil. There are 2.7% of the 1.45 million illegal immigrants with final orders to leave the country. The numbers are from November 24, 2024, obtained 1st by Fox News. Eis and (PDF – 215 KB).

The list includes foreign citizens with court orders to leave the country, but they are not detained. They may still request asylum or protection to protest US removal.

The document states that the US government asks immigrant countries to confirm their nationalities before the deportation process. And understands that in nations they are “Forced to accept the return of its citizens”.

Brazil is the 7th country with more immigrants with final deportation orders. Here’s the list with the top 10:

  • El Salvador: 203.822
  • Nicaragua: 45.995
  • Cuba: 42.084
  • Brazil: 38.677

At the time of the report, the internal security department considered 15 countries as “Non -collaborative”. The list does not include Brazil or Colombia, protagonists of recent clashes with the US about the reception of the deported. Here are the listed countries:

  • Eritrea;
  • Ethiopia;
  • Hong Kong;
  • India;
  • Iran;
  • Laos;
  • Myanmar;
  • Pakistan;
  • China;

3,660 deported since Lula 3

Brazil received 3,660 people deported from the US on 32 flights chartered by the US government from January 27, 2023 to January 10, 2025. The information is from BH Airport, a company that manages Confins Airport, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizon (MG).

These deportations were held from the beginning of the government of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) while Joe Biden (Democrat) was president of the US. Since January 20, the US President has been Donald Trump (Republican).
