US President Donald Trump asked SpaceX, a billionaire Elon Musk, to ensure the early return of two American astronauts who were stuck at the International Space Station (ISS). TASR informs about this, referring to Reuters and AFP.
“I just asked Elon Musk and Spacex to bring back two brave astronauts whose Biden’s administration practically left in the universe,” Trump wrote at night on Wednesday in his post on his Truth Social platform, hinting at his predecessor in Joe Biden.
“They have been waiting for many months at the space station. Elon will go on the road soon. Hopefully everyone will be safe. Good luck Elon !!! “He added Trump, who did not specify when the mission would take place.
Reuters notes that this is an unusual intervention of the US President into operations of the National Aviation and Space Authority (NASA), which surprised many of its representatives. Reuters said this, referring to two NASA employees.
Experienced Astronauts NASA Butch Wilmore and Suun Williams arrived at the ISS last June on board the Starliner spacecraft developed by Boeing. They were supposed to be eight days at the station, but NASA decided that NASA decided that their return would be too dangerous.
In August, NASA announced that astronauts would be transported to Earth in February a capsule of a competitive SpaceX. She later postponed the return to the end of March because SpaceX is preparing a new spacecraft.
Elon Musk agreed to return astronauts as soon as possible
Musk, one of the most influential Trump’s advisors and supporters of his election campaign, said on Tuesday on the X platform that the President asked him to bring both astronauts as soon as possible. “We’ll do it,” Musk wrote.
SpaceX provides FLAs for ISS every six months to allow crew rotation. Wilmore and Williams recently said that they are still well and enjoying a space station. Nevertheless, they are far from the record of their colleague Francisco Rubia, who spent 371 days (from 21 September 2022 to September 27, 2023) after the Russian spacecraft designed to return it has escaped fuel.
