The Italian prime minister is in court investigation after the unexpected release from the country of a Libyan police officer wanted by the International Criminal Court.
Osama Elmasry Njem, also known as Osama Almasri Njem, was released last week after being held a few days earlier on the basis of arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged crimes against humanity.
The ICT demanded explanations, saying that his opinion was not asked for this decision.
Melon said in a message posted on social media that prosecutors suspected her of embezzlement and synergy with a crime in relation to the case.
He has no obligation to resign and to be investigated in Italy does not entail guilt, nor does it mean that official charges will be followed.
“I will not blackmail, I will not allow them to be intimidated, so I am, let’s say, dislike for those who do not want Italy to change and get better.”Meloni said in a video posted on her Facebook profile.
Justice Minister Carlo Nordio, Interior Minister Matteo Pandendozi and the Deputy Minister of the Council of Ministers on Information Issues, Alfredo Mantovano, have also been under investigation, Meloni said.
