President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) received, on Wednesday (29), a call from Chilean President Gabriel Boric, to deal with themes of the bilateral and global agenda.
The presidents reinforced the importance of working for the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean in the current context, “in view of the historical challenges of combating inequalities and promoting social inclusion and sustainable development.”
The conversation between and occurs after the cancellation of the Latin American and Caribbean Community Community Meeting (Celac) to discuss migration, originally summoned on Thursday (30), in Honduras.
The meeting was canceled with the overcoming of the “impasse” between US presidents Donald Trump and Colombia, Gustavo Petro.
Lula and Boric also discussed the preparation of the leaders in defense of democracy.
As agreed at the event “In Defense of Democracy, fighting extremisms”, held in the US in September last year, during the United Nations General Assembly, Chile will host the next meeting.
President Gabriel Boric also confirmed state visit to Brazil on April 22 this year.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at least 15 agreements have been signed in various areas, ranging from science and technology, defense, human rights to business and investment relations.
