There are few people in the world who can say that in adulthood they follow their children’s dreams. Vinícius Reiter Pilz is one of those people. He was born in Venâncio Aires, a municipality of and grew up with his youngest sister, Vanessa, in the family residence in the then district of Mato Leitão. Childhood games were about trucks – toy or real, as the grandfather had a small vehicle company. “When he was 15, he had the opportunity to go to Disney, but preferred to go a ride in a truck, carrying sheep to Uruguay,” says the sister, in an interview with Podcast on InfoMoney entrepreneurship ,.
It was natural, therefore, that Vinicius was Empower in the logistics sector. When he was 22, he began Reiter Log with a truck and a client. Vanessa arrived later and today the two complement each other in the lead. “I am PowerPoint and he is Excel. I am the expansive and the spokesman. It is strategy, operation and numbers, ”he says.
Now the company has over 2,300 employees. And, besides transport, it also acts as for many customers such as Sodexo and Carrefour. But there is another growth avenue that the company prioritizes: “We are the solution for customers who seek to decarbonize their operations,” he says.
In 2021, the company created a specific board for ESG actions. “For a long time, this was seen as” fashion. ” But for us, it has always been a theme understood very seriously. Today, we have as customers the main companies in Brazil that seek this work. These are companies like O Boticário, Suzano, Nestlé, among others, ”he says.

In this front, one of the pillars of the company is the focus on the renewal and maintenance of the fleet. While the average age of trucks in Brazil is over the age of 20, at Reiter Log, it is 2. And more: 30% of the fleet is moved to alternative energies. The goal is to reach 100% until 2035.

According to data released at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, more than 20% of global CO2 emissions are road transport. “We need to start changing with love or pain. And really start, not just doing Greenwashing, taking a picture with an electric car and that’s it, ”says Vanessa, who also occupies the chair of ESC director in the company.
The route to the change has already been drawn. “We don’t believe in a unique solution. We use electric vehicles, especially for final deliveries (last milein English). But we also have Biomethane vehicles, also known as a 100% clean fuel, with enormous growth potential, which comes from agribusiness waste. What was a problem becomes a solution, ”says Vanessa.
The path, however, has obstacles: “It’s not simple, but we study the routes we can do this way and we already have 3 pit stops in Brazil 100% supplied with biomethane of agribusiness origin,” he says.

In addition to this adaptation, the company goes through another: the imminent lack of qualified labor. “Young people don’t want to spend days in a truck. For Brazil not to stop, we need to form the next generation of drivers, because autonomous trucks may even arrive, but it will take a long time to happen. And we have a real problem now, ”he says.
One of the solutions was to get women. “We started a course for women’s drivers but there are other difficulties that go beyond us. For example, there are still stops with male locker room only, ”he says.
By attacking several problems at the same time, the company has been able to achieve 20% growth in revenues since 2017. In 2024, although only 11 months of revenues due to the rains that reached the state of Rio Grande do Sul and closed roads, Company reached revenues of R $ 700 million with the expectation of constant growth for the coming years.
