The governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello (), sworn in last Friday (24) the colonel of the Sinval Santos da Silveira reserve as deputy secretary of the state public security folder. The nominee is the brother of the mayor of, Topaz Neto ().
Sinval was once head of the state government Military House in the interim management of Daniela Reinehr (PL) in 2020, and also commanded the 21st Military Police Battalion in the capital of Santa Catarina.
He took office last week alongside the new Secretary of Public Security, Colonel of the Fire Department Reserve Flávio Graff. He was the deputy of the folder.
The change in Jorginho’s secretariat involves articulations in the dispute for his reelection in 2026.
Topázio, an ally of the governor, is from the party of João Rodrigues (PSD), mayor of Chapecó, who released last weekend a video in which he announced to be a candidate for the state government. At the time were present other PSD mayors, such as Topzio himself.
Already the current governor joined to his secretariat the head of communication of Topaz, Bruno Oliveira, former mayors of Blumenau and São José Mário Hildebrand and Adeliana Dal Pont, as well as Senator Jorge Seif’s wife, Catiane Seif, who assumes the portfolio of Tourism.
Both Jorginho and João Rodrigues are allies of the former president (PL). In the 2022 elections, 69% of Santa Catarina voted for Bolsonaro in the second round against President Lula (PT), victorious in the dispute.
